Hayes School U13s crowned 2014 National Champions

Hayes School U13s

Massive congratulations to Hayes Secondary School U13 cricket team who were crowned champions of the ECB 2014 "Chance to Compete Super Eights" Competition on Tuesday 16th September at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club.

Hayes U13s played Rainford High Technology College in the semi-final who they narrowly defeated in the final over by 8 wickets.

Hayes then played Washwood Heath Academy in the finals and ran out very convincing winners, restricting their opponents to 39 runs and being able to reach their target without dropping a wicket and with 4 overs to spare.

Chris Woakes (Warwickshire and England) presented the trophy and medals to the winning team and Charlotte Edward (England Ladies Captain) spent the day meeting and chatting to the players.

The Hayes team was:

Mayumi Baynes, Alex Donald, Miles Entwistle, Ed Goskie, James Hammond, Kay James, Isaac Rodda, Daniel Seston (Captain) and Peter Stenning

Highlights of the day:

Mayumi being the youngest and only female competing at the tournament.

Isaac Rodda with a disabling 2 wicket over.

James Kay and Alex Donald with an unbeaten 40 run partnership in the final to win the tournament.
